A chilling pop-up message on an Android smartphone recently sent a Reddit user into a frenzy. The message read: “Someone has access to your screen. Google has hidden your sensitive content for security.“ The unsettling alert appeared whenever the user opened their messages app, sparking widespread concern among Android users.
Posted on the subreddit r/Delhi, the incident revealed a worrying link to an app identified by its package name: com.acertijo.nearme.gamecenter. A quick search showed the app to be Acertijos Word Game, with over 10,000 downloads. However, it is not just this particular application that has thrown a malicious popup, a simple search on Google and Reddit shows many users have complained about similar popups with different application package names.
