Can Pratibha survive CM Sukhu’s push for his loyalist as HPCC Chief?
New Delhi: While Congress leadership keeps facing ignominy of one defeat after another in the assembly elections across the country, it has no solace even in the state where it is in power. Take the example of Himachal Pradesh (HP) where Congress returned to power defeating BJP in the November 2022 elections but has ever since failed to stop the perch-war between the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the HPCC President Pratibha Singh.
According to media reports, the factional war between the two has exacerbated over the selection of the new HPCC President. While Singh, who is presently holding the post, would like to continue and select her own team, CM Sukhu is known to be lobbying for her replacement by one of his own loyalists. This is known to have further deepened the divide between the two leaders and their loyalists and which is giving sleepless nights to the Congress leadership in Delhi.
Besides Pratibha, some of the names doing the rounds for HPCC President include Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi and Bhoranj MLA Suresh Kumar. All of them are considered close to CM Sukhu. Meanwhile, names of Industries Minister Harshwardhan Singh, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and former HPCC........
