After a long wait and long pains, BJP looks to tick the Delhi box!
New Delhi: After the Exit Polls predictions, the early trends in the Delhi assembly elections also indicate that BJP is all set to form government in the national capital after 27 years. The party has already crossed the halfway mark, 36 required for majority in the 70-member Delhi assembly, with barely two hours into counting.
The BJP’s surge means that it has effectively denied AAP a fourth consecutive term beginning 2015. The victory also means that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have finally conquered Delhi after being denied this joy twice in the last 10 years. As a result, Delhi victory would now become a major highlight of their resume.
The invincibility of AAP and its convener Arvind Kejriwal has finally been shattered by the BJP and this could be the beginning of a new phase in the party’s electoral history. One of the major opponents of BJP and its leadership, Kejriwal would now have to begin afresh and Delhi should occupy his time more than national politics.
