Tata-owned JLR confirms planned job cuts for 4000 employees

Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover have confirmed that it needs to reduce spending by around £1.7 billion over the next two years. This restructuring could result in up to 4,000 job losses.

New Delhi: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a voluntary redundancy scheme. This comes as the company looks to reduce costs and respond to difficult conditions in the global automotive market. The move comes roughly a year after a major cyberattack forced JLR to suspend vehicle production for several weeks. 

The company says it needs to reduce spending by around £1.7 billion over the next two years to improve efficiency, simplify its operations and strengthen its ability to cope with future challenges. Reports suggested that the restructuring could result in up to 4,000 job losses, partly because of weaker vehicle sales and the effects of tariffs.
