JCB Hydromax claims record at Bonneville before FIA attempt

JCB Hydromax has broken the Bonneville record with the car’s 592.78 kph average claiming the record. The streamliner comes with two production-based JCB hydrogen internal combustion engines.

New Delhi: The JCB Hydromax breaking the Bonneville record before its world record shot wasn’t exactly in the plans, but it just came to be. The hydrogen-powered streamliner has put together an officially sanctioned Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) class mark at the Bonneville Salt Flats, and it has achieved this with sheer combustion and no hint of battery driving the wheels. 

The car’s 592.78 kph average is now the number to beat, but it comes with two razor-close runs and a method that is quite unforgiving. It also shows what two hydrogen-burning engines can achieve. The SCTA result gives JCB a verified benchmark before the Fédération Internationale........
