George Russell raises concerns for Madrid circuit ahead of Spanish GP

George Russell has raised concerns about the demanding Madring circuit ahead of Spanish GP following British rookie Arvid Lindblad’s crash.

New Delhi: Mercedes driver George Russell has said that the new Madrid circuit is “very high risk” following British rookie Arvid Lindblad’s crash in Friday practice at the Spanish GP. Racing Bulls’ Lindblad was the only driver to have an accident. However, several drivers did brush the wall while getting to learn the new Madring circuit. 

Lindblad’s impressive pace was overshadowed slightly by a mistake at Turn 13, where the 19-year-old lost control of his car and slid sideways into the barriers. The impact damaged both the front and rear suspension, along with the front wing. Despite the crash, Lindblad finished the session fourth on the timesheets, only 0.228 seconds behind Mercedes driver and session leader Kimi Antonelli.

How the big guns fare at Madring’s opening laps

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was second, followed by Lewis Hamilton in third, with both drivers just over a tenth of a second off Antonelli’s benchmark. George Russell ended the session fifth, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.........
