CHENNAI: After months of anticipation and a successful trial run, India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train is finally slated to enter commercial service, with a potential launch as a “surprise for Diwali,” according to railway sources. The much-awaited train, which promises to revolutionize long-distance overnight travel in India, has completed its production at the BEML facility in Bengaluru and has been inspected by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. While the Railways has remained officially tight-lipped on its operational date, sources indicate a launch in the last week of September, just ahead of the festive season.
