Exercise Tarang Shakti -Understanding the operational roles of participating aircraft
The Indian Air Force has entered the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
New Delhi: The Indian Air Force has entered the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur. The multinational air exercise brings together India and seven partner countries for joint training and professional interaction.
Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating in the exercise. Several other friendly countries are also participating as observers.
The exercise is being conducted from September 26 to October 12, 2026, with the theme “Power in Partnership”. The theme highlights the importance of working together, sharing experience and improving coordination between different air forces.
What will the operational phase include?
The operational phase will mainly focus on flying activities and mission-based training. Foreign aircraft will operate alongside Indian Air Force aircraft in different training activities.
The foreign aircraft taking part include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A.
The Indian Air Force is also taking part with a wide range of fighter aircraft, airborne surveillance and command systems, tankers, transport aircraft and helicopters.
Together, these aircraft allow the participating air forces to practice different parts of a large air operation.
