FSSAI has proposed a red hexagonal warning label for packaged foods high in fat, sugar or salt. The proposal was made in a Supreme Court filing and could change how nutrition warnings appear on food packets in India.

New Delhi: India’s food regulator has proposed a new front-of-pack warning label for packaged foods that contain high levels of fat, sugar or salt. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, or FSSAI, has suggested a red hexagonal symbol for products that are high in any two or more of these three nutrients, according to a Supreme Court filing seen by Reuters.
