PM Modi to open SEMICON India 2026 as ₹1.64 lakh crore chip projects take shape

SEMICON India 2026 will begin on September 17 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, bringing together chipmakers, investors, startups and policymakers. India is using the event to showcase progress in semiconductor manufacturing, design, packaging and talent development.

India’s semiconductor push will move into sharper focus on September 17, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka. The three-day event will bring together global chipmakers, policymakers, startups, investors and researchers at a time when India is trying to build a larger role in the global semiconductor supply chain.

This year’s theme is “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” The phrase captures where India’s chip strategy currently stands. The focus has moved beyond individual factories. The larger effort now covers chip design, fabrication, packaging, testing, materials, research and skilled workers.
