Oracle layoffs hit again amid AI spending boom, India impact still unclear

Oracle has begun another round of layoffs, with reports of employees receiving early morning emails informing them that their roles were being eliminated. The fresh cuts come as Oracle spends heavily on AI and cloud infrastructure, with the impact on India still unclear.

Oracle has started another round of layoffs, with some employees waking up to an early morning email telling them their role had been eliminated and the same day would be their last working day. The September 14 cuts follow weeks of uncertainty inside the company, with employees reportedly watching login access and internal Slack numbers for clues about possible job losses.

The manner of the cuts has drawn attention too. Employees told Business Insider that federated logins began going offline around 4 AM Eastern Time, followed by Slack access between 5 AM and 5.30 AM. The formal email arrived at around 6 AM. The message reportedly began, “We are sharing some difficult news regarding your position.”
