Big shift in policy: TN women govt staff get full year maternity leave for 3rd child

Tamil Nadu extends paid maternity leave to 365 days for state government employees having a third child, removing the previous 12-week cap.

Chennai: Women working in Tamil Nadu state government jobs will now get 365 days (one full year) of paid maternity leave for their third child. The announcement was made by the state government led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.

This decision makes maternity leave benefits for a third child equal to what women already get for their first two children.
