AAP passed biggest ‘agni pariksha’, now we will clean entire country with ‘jhaadu’: Arvind Kejriwal
The AAP Supremo stated that those who are arrested and then join the BJP do so because they have done something wrong and they are afraid that if they do not join, they will be jailed permanently.
After being declared ‘kattar imaandar’ (staunchly honest) by a Delhi trial court in the alleged liquor case, Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday addressed a felicitation ceremony in Panaji following his acquittal. He said that by walking the path of truth and honesty, the AAP has passed its toughest test yet, and asserted that a sustained attempt was made to defame AAP’s top leadership and falsely portray it as corrupt, but the court has now made it clear that there is not even enough evidence or witnesses to proceed with a trial. He added that the party will now take its mission forward and ‘clean’ not just Goa but the entire country.
The AAP Supremo also called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that their hunger for power led to his arrest, disruption of governance in Delhi and hardship for the public, while also alleging that the Delhi election was ‘stolen’. He said that despite everything that was done to finish him politically, he continues to stand firm and will neither bow nor stop. He added that if they wish to defeat him, they must do more work than him, otherwise they would have to eliminate him, as ‘Kejriwal is still roaring’.
Addressing a packed ‘jansabha’ in Panjim, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, “The leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party, we have come through an ‘agni pariksha’, and history is witness that whenever you walk on the path of truth, you have to go through an ordeal. Walking on the path of truth is not easy, there are thorns and stones at every step, and all kinds of accusations are levelled against you. We have heard in the Ramayana how Sita Mata had to undergo an agni pariksha to prove her purity when Lord Ram defeated Ravana and returned from Lanka to Ayodhya. In the same way, the Aam Aadmi Party, which is walking on the path of truth and honesty, has faced continuous attempts over the past five years to defame it, with one attack after another. We too have emerged after undergoing an ‘agni pariksha.’”
Recalling the made up allegations and investigations, he said, “Accusations were made against us that Kejriwal committed a liquor scam, that Kejriwal took ₹100 crore. Day and night, 24 hours, this was the debate on television channels. Efforts were made to destroy our image, to prove us corrupt, and to label us as thieves. Raids were conducted on us by the police, by the Income Tax Department, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Raids were carried out at our homes, our offices, and our bank accounts were examined. If there was a ₹100 crore scam, the money must be somewhere. Where did the ₹100 crore go? It must have been used to buy land, property, kept in banks, or held in cash somewhere, or spent somewhere. Where did it go? They found nothing. Not a single new paisa was found. Yet an attempt was made to create suspicion among people. In this manner, we were defamed and then sent to jail.”
He continued, “Five of the most senior leaders of a political party were put in jail. I was the Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia was the Deputy Chief Minister, Satyendar Jain was the Health Minister, Vijay Nair, and Sanjay Singh, a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. All five of us were arrested and sent to jail. Pressure was created in many ways. Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were told to leave my side and join the BJP. But not a single person broke, not a single leader gave in. Why did no one break? Because if we had done anything wrong, I would not have been able to stand before you today. If we had done anything wrong, we would have had to join the BJP because we knew they could keep us in jail permanently.”
The AAP Supremo stated that those who are arrested and then join the BJP do so because they have done something wrong and they are afraid that if they do not join, they will be jailed permanently. But we knew we were falsely implicated, the case was false. We knew that sooner or later we would come out, and that when the matter reached the court, it would not stand. That is why we remained strong. I was in jail for 150 days, Manish Sisodia was in jail for more than 500 days. His wife suffers from multiple sclerosis, a very rare disease in which the lower part of the body gradually stops functioning and it slowly progresses upward, making even walking difficult. Despite his wife’s condition, Manish Sisodia did not break and did not join the BJP. He said he would fight and continue on the path of truth.
“They tried to prove us dishonest, but now the court order has come. It is a 600-page order. The judge examined all the evidence and all the witnesses. There were daily hearings for five months, with lawyers from the CBI and the ED presenting their arguments and our lawyers responding. After hearing........
