Patna consumer court fines Cinepolis, Coca-Cola Rs 85,000 for selling overpriced water

The consumer in his complaint said that when he was entering the movie theatre, the security guard stopped him from carrying his water bottle inside. He was then forced to pay Rs 50 for a Kinley water bottle inside the movie theatre. The bottle usually costs Rs 20 in the market, but inside the theatre it was more than double the maximum retail price outside.

New Delhi: A consumer court in Patna fined Cinepolis and soft drink manufacturer Coca-Cola, Rs 85,000 for preventing a movie-goer from carrying his own water inside a multiplex in the city and instead forcing him to buy overpriced water. The case was filed by a man identified as Rajat Tiwari.

The order of the consumer court came nearly a decade after the complaint was filed. The incident involving Tewari reportedly happened........
