Bengal court issues arrest warrant against Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra – Know why

A court in Krishnanagar on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against Trinamool Congress MP, Mahua Moitra after she failed to appear before the bench in a hate speech case. The court refused to entertain the plea of Moitra's counsel that she would not appear in court because she feared being heckled outside the court premises.

New Delhi: A court in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against Trinamool Congress MP, Mahua Moitra. The warrant has been issued after she failed to appear in court in an alleged hate speech case, said a report in Hindustan Times.

The Krishnanagar court also directed that a report be submitted by August 28, on the execution of the arrest warrant.........
