Congress in Crisis: After scoring a zero in Delhi, will Bihar be a turning point for Rahul Gandhi?

The Congress party, after scoring a zero in the Delhi Assembly elections, is now gearing up for the Bihar assembly elections that are expected to be held around October-November. In the past month, Rahul Gandhi has visited Bihar twice, and now on February 22, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge will be on a tour of Buxar in Bihar.

Additionally, from February 20, the new in-charge of Bihar Congress, Krishna Allavaru, will reach Patna on a three-day tour of Bihar and will discuss organizational matters in the state with Congress leaders. Allavaru, who is considered to be very close to Rahul, will have to brainstorm within the party on the position of Congress in Mahagathbandhan, also discuss the strategy with the state leaders, and deal with RJD on seat sharing.

The Congress faces a massive challenge of strengthening the organisation in Bihar, and the party’s state president has not been able to form his committee since 2017. Current president Akhilesh Prasad Singh also failed to form a committee so far after being appointed in December 2022. As the state president has not been able to pick his men in these three years, the question arises whether Singh does not want to form a new committee or is he not capable of doing so.
