Government lifts domestic airfare caps as rising jet fuel drives up airline costs
The government has lifted the temporary cap on domestic airfares set after the December 2025 IndiGo flight disruption.
New Delhi: A big relief for the domestic travellers is on the way as the Indian government has withdrawn the temporary cap on domestic airfares from next week. The cap of Rs 18,000 was imposed on December 6, 2025, during the flight disruption crisis involving IndiGo. It will be lifted on Monday, March 23.
The move came at a time when jet fuel prices are skyrocketing due to the Middle East conflict.
