8 Mumbai-bound flights diverted to Surat after strong winds disrupt Airport operations
Due to bad weather eight Mumbai-bound flights were diverted to Surat. Surat Airport accommodated the aircraft during the disruption while passengers await further movement as airlines prepare to resume their journeys once Mumbai operations return to normal.
New Delhi: Strong winds disrupted flight operations at Mumbai Airport on Tuesday evening, forcing eight Mumbai-bound flights carrying 1,255 passengers to divert to Surat Airport. All eight aircraft landed safely as Surat served as an alternate airport during the weather-related disruption.
The diverted flights were travelling to Mumbai from cities including Tiruchirappalli, Delhi, Chennai, Goa, Bengaluru and Bhopal. The first aircraft to arrive at Surat was IndiGo flight 6E-2017 from Tiruchirappalli which landed at around 6.50 pm with 182 passengers.
