Water Wars: Kejriwal’s ‘BJP poisoning Yamuna’ jab doesn’t make any waves, and sinks on facts
New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly elections is nothing short of a potboiler. It never has been, never will be. But to what extent will this go? The jury is still out on which of the three major national parties (in the fray currently) will emerge victorious, but it is evidenced that they will go outright. The Aam Aadmi Party’s founder, and former chief minister of the Capital city, Arvind Kejriwal, doesn’t want to be left too far behind in the battle of votes, or so it seems. First, via his party’s manifesto, which speaks only about the Revdis and less about development per se and if that was not enough, it is through his vociferous claims insinuating that the Haryana government had actually been contaminating the Yamuna with industrial effluents, in an attempt to harm Delhi residents. Kejriwal termed this act as “water terrorism” and suggested it could lead to a “mass genocide.”
The Haryana government has since refuted these claims and labeled them as baseless and politically motivated. But the diatribe doesn’t end here. The BJP government in Haryana is now contemplating to sue Kejriwal for his unwarranted claims, Kejriwal, in turn, wants to make this as an emotional appeal which will work like a magic wand winning him the votes!
Will he succeed in this water war? One cannot help but find a Napoleon Bonaparte quote to describe the situation unfolding for the AAP supremo.
