New Delhi: In 2014, he had emphasised on the empowerment of the “aam aadmi” or the common man in all of his speeches. He had advocated for a governance model that was rooted in ‘Swaraj’, had vociferously promoted self governance and decentralisation of power. He had stated that the core ideology of AAP is built on staunch ideals of patriotism, deep-rooted honesty, and that of humanity.

He had also said the following, and we quote verbatim

” UPA wants gas price at 8 dollars, Modi wants it at 16 dollars, and AAP at 4 dollars.”

“Congress has stolen in 10 years more than what the British could in 200 years.”

In 2015, His party won 67 of 70 seats in the assembly elections, he himself defeated BJP’s Nupur Sharma by over 31,000 votes. He bagged 57,213 votes, BJP’s Nupur Sharma managed 25,630 votes, and Congress leader Kiran Walia got only 4,781 votes.

In 2020, His party pulled up another spectacular contest winning 62 out of the 70 assembly seats, he himself got 46,578 votes against Sunil Kumar Yadav’s (BJP) 25,061 votes with a margin of 21697

In 2025, His party is tottering with only 23 seats (by the time we write this), he himself has LOST the New Delhi constituency.
