Sensex, Nifty jump in early trade; Check prominent gainers and laggards

The Indian stock market jumped in early trade on Thursday, despite crude oil prices edging up. At 9:25 AM, Sensex was trading at 77,407.43, up 0.65% or 497.75 points while Nifty 50 reached 24,196.10, up 0.49% or 117.80 points.

This morning rupee rose 17 paise to reach 95.56 against the US dollar in early trade. On Wednesday, the rupee ended just 1 paisa higher against the greenback and reached 95.73 against the dollar. Global crude oil prices and continuing tension in West Asia kept traders on the edge.

Brent crude futures inched up 25 cents, or 0.3%, to reach $91.87 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for September crawled down 2 cents to reach $85.81 a barrel. But WTI contract........
