FPIs keep investing in August too; total foreign investment Rs 36,800 crore in 6 weeks
In the first half of August, foreign investors invested Rs 16,621 crore in Indian stocks. Foreign investments in July totaled Rs 20,200 crore. Better valuations, robust corporate results in the Q1 period and expectations of a US interest rate cut prompted FPIs to return to the Indian stock market.
Kolkata: Though the significance of Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) has somewhat declined in Indian stock market, they are still crucial in lifting the overall mood of the market. In the first 15 days of August, foreign investors invested Rs 16,621 crore in Indian equities. In July, FPIs invested Rs 20,200 crore, taking the cumulative investments in the past six weeks to about Rs 36,800 crore.
