New Delhi: Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry has joined US President Donald Trump’s administration as a press advisor at the State Department, making a move from sports broadcasting and political commentary to the US government’s diplomatic apparatus.

McHenry confirmed the appointment in a post announcing that she was ‘beyond excited’ about the new role. She said the position would allow her to put her years of experience in journalism and television to work at the department responsible for US foreign policy. “For 17 years, I have worked on camera covering the news. Now, I get to take that experience and apply it to our country’s highest diplomatic agency,” McHenry said.
