Turkey’s Parliament backs PKK peace bill in attempts to reconcile with Kurds

New Delhi: Turkey has taken a significant step towards ending its decades-long conflict with Kurdish militants, with a parliamentary committee approving a bill aimed at providing a legal framework for the country’s renewed peace process with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The 12-article legislation, titled the ‘Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration’ bill, provides for procedures governing PKK disarmament and the rehabilitation of some former militants.
