Of war, no peace: US blocks Ukraine military aid, Israel blocks Gaza’s humanitarian

New Delhi: It has been nearly three years since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war and more than a year to the Israel-Hamas war. There have been attempts to bring in truces, ceasefires, stalemates and surrenders; but all to no avail. Despite global pressure and condemnation, it looks like that both the ongoing wars may only further exacerbate. This expectation of impending aggression comes at a time when finally things were looking to subside into comparative tranquility on both fronts, both in Ukraine and Gaza. On one side, Israel and Hamas had agreed to a three-staged ceasefire deal whose first stage in currently underway, while the return of Donald Trump to the White House, and his meeting with Ukranian President Zelensky had many hoping that an end to the Russia-Ukraine war would also be coming soon. Alas on both fronts, the initial optimism is giving way to quiet, eventual dejection.
