Assam floods ease, but death toll rises to 105; over 32,000 still affected
Assam's flood situation improved on Monday, but the death toll rose to 105 after one more drowning. Over 32,000 people remain affected, while the government has released interim aid to thousands of flood-hit families.
New Delhi: The flood situation in Assam showed some improvement on Monday, although the death toll from this year’s floods rose to 105 after one more person drowned in Sivasagar district, officials said.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 31,900 people are still affected across four districts- Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon and Sivasagar. Nagaon remains the worst-hit, with nearly 20,000 people affected. More than 5,000 people are affected in Jorhat, while Sivasagar has over 4,500.
