Putin takes swipe at ‘so-called G7’, says BRICS contributed over 40% of global GDP
Russian President Vladimir Putin compared the economic performance of BRICS and the G7 at the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi. He credited the grouping’s large population, expanding domestic markets, rapid urbanisation and growing companies for its rising role in the world economy.
New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin took a swipe at the Group of Seven on Friday as he presented BRICS as a growing force in the world economy.
Addressing the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, Putin claimed that members of the grouping contributed more than 40 per cent of global GDP over the past five years. He compared this with a contribution of 29 per cent from the G7 countries.
