PM Modi meets Iran President Pezeshkian on BRICS sidelines amid West Asia tensions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi amid rising tensions in West Asia. Modi called for dialogue, civilian protection and uninterrupted maritime trade, while Pezeshkian proposed stronger financial and trade cooperation within BRICS.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday ahead of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, with the escalating West Asia conflict dominating their meeting.

The talks came amid fears of a wider confrontation between Iran and the United States. Oil prices have crossed USD 100 per barrel as the conflict threatens energy supplies and major shipping routes.

It was the second meeting between Modi and Pezeshkian within two weeks. The two leaders had briefly met during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation........
