Congress slams PM Modi’s foreign policy as ‘huglomacy’ as Pakistan hosts US-Iran peace talks
The Congress on Saturday criticised the BJP-led government’s foreign policy, questioning how Pakistan emerged as a mediator in US-Iran talks despite India’s efforts to isolate it. The remarks came after US Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad for negotiations with Iranian leaders.
New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday intensified its attack on the BJP-led NDA government’s foreign policy, raising concerns over Pakistan’s role as host and mediator in talks between the United States and Iran following a temporary ceasefire in the West Asia conflict.
The criticism came after US Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad for negotiations with an Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The Congress said Pakistan’s involvement undermines India’s efforts to diplomatically isolate the neighbouring country.
