There was no pressure: Dhruv Jurel credits Gill, Gambhir after ending lean patch against Sri Lanka

Dhruv Jurel ended his lean patch in Test cricket with a half-century in India's first innings of the ongoing Galle Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

New Delhi: Team India batter Dhruv Jurel revealed he was not under pressure despite his lean patch in Test cricket as he thanked head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill for backing him during the rough phase. After failing to notch up a fifty in his last seven Test innings, Jurel finally brought an end to the drought with a half-century in the first Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The wicket-keeper batter scored 51 off 68 balls in India’s first innings on Day 2 to play his part in helping the visitors post a strong total of 460/9 in their first innings at stumps. Jurel thanked Gambhir and Gill for giving him confidence during the lean phase while insisting that there was no pressure, as he considers representing India the biggest privilege.
