India needs to take a page out of China’s playbook. And that is to start salami-slicing Bangladesh. How does China do it? It takes over neighbouring territory and treats it as its own. Slice by slice.

Once the slicing is done, and the rim of land taken, that creates a new boundary between the two nations. From there on, it takes another slice of the neighbour’s territory. And that creates a new Line of Control. And so on and so forth.

While this is happening, China produces (magically) historical records from some dynasty a few hundred years ago when it controlled the territory. It does not matter that, at that time, China as a sovereign state did not exist. China shows itself as a civilisational continuity of the regimes that existed a few hundred years ago and insists on the territories that belonged to the Qing or Ming dynasties as its territories now.
