Black voters should reject Newsom’s ‘I’m as dumb as you’ shtick
Gavin Newsom was out being offensive again this week, demonstrating his familiarity with the soft bigotry of low expectations.
He is not only a failed governor who blew through a budget surplus, failed to deliver on his promise to eradicate homelessness, and allowed large portions of LA to burn down.
Newsom is also the same governor who confined his state’s citizens to their homes, closing their churches, gyms, and even their beaches and skate parks while he dined mask-free with elites at the French Laundry.
Instead of govrning, Newsom was out campaigning and promoting his new book, “Young Man in a Hurry,” in Atlanta last Sunday evening.
He appeared onstage with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, and tried to connect with black voters:
“You know, I’m not trying to impress you. I’m just trying to impress upon you: I’m like you. I’m no better than you. You know, I’m a 960 SAT guy,” he said.
He continued: “I can tell you; you’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech. Maybe the wrong business to be in. I still have trouble reading. I have dyslexia — severe dyslexia. I’ve had it since I was a kid. But look, we all have our challenges, and we’ve overcome them.”
Everyone in that room should have walked out.
