Hero Chief Aaron Edwards: Letters to the Editor — March 13, 2026
The Issue: Chief Aaron Edward and Sgt. Luis Navarro’s heroic takedown of ISIS bomb-throwers.
The viral photo of Assistant Chief Aaron Edwards jumping over a metal barricade simply exemplifies the courage and training of every uniformed and plainclothes member of New York’s Finest (“Police chief’s an action hero,” March 11).
Mayor Mamdani should not only praise our police, but also hire more to make citizens even safer.
While I heartily applaud Chief Edwards and the other police officers who risked their lives to safeguard Gracie Mansion to capture those two miscreants with their terrorist actions, I can’t help thinking, why?
Why are progressive feminists letting their husbands put them in polyamorous harems?

This mayor despises the police and other law-enforcement agencies.
If he thinks he needn’t hire more police — which we must have in today’s political climate — let him do his own thing and protect himself. What a hypocrite.
Chief Edwards and the officers like him are the true heroes.
Edwards is a true New York City hero.
He was willing to put himself in danger to protect this city by taking down a would-be terrorist.
Will Mayor Mamdani show his and our gratitude by offering him the keys to the city or by inviting him to Gracie Mansion?
Chief Edwards, along with Sgt. Luis Navarro and other officers, displayed the type of noble valor that epitomizes the character of the men and women in blue who selflessly risk their lives every day to keep this city safe.
Our police have earned the right to be treated with our utmost respect and gratitude.
The Thin Blue Line will continue its sworn duty to protect and serve regardless, but it would go a long way in boosting morale if officers were shown the appreciation they deserve.
The ISIS-sympathizing terrorists sought to create mass destruction at the Gracie Mansion protest. But these evil-doers were stopped thanks to the bravery of the NYPD and the FBI.
I applaud NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the NYPD and the FBI for their quick action, and for going beyond the call of duty and endangering their own lives as well.
The Issue: Mayor Mamdani inviting Mahmoud Khalil to Gracie Mansion for Ramadan.
One day after his insincere statements about disapproving violence at Gracie Mansion, Mamdani hosts pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil for dinner (“Ramadan ‘fast’ & furious reaction,” March 11).
If he was a real leader, a real mensch, he would have invited the police officers who sprung into immediate action at the scene, and give them the recognition they deserve.
Mayor Mamdani and his wife have the audacity to invite an anti-Israel activist to Gracie Mansion for dinner.
Do any of the Jewish voters out there in New York who have voted for this antisemite mayor see what they are reaping?
If that is not a message to all, then I don’t know what it is.
Gracie Mansion is the people’s mansion and is not to be used as an entertainment center for any hate-filled individual.
No surprise that Mamdani would invite Khalil to Gracie Mansion; they are ideological soulmates in their desire to wipe Israel off the map and to intimidate New York Jews by flaunting their antisemitism.
It’s really unfortunate that ICE agents didn’t march right in and remove Khalil: Let him observe Ramadan while he awaits deportation.
