British comedian and actor Russell Brand appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday as his trial began over seven sexual offence charges involving six women, with jury selection scheduled to start.

Brand, 51, has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. The alleged incidents date from 1999 to 2009.
