The metaphor has, of course, found its way into political parlance, particularly prevalent in the run-up to elections as all parties vie to land star candidates. With the Oct. 5 vote looming and the writ expected to be dropped in three weeks, Quebec’s main political parties are working feverishly in selecting reliable individuals for each of the province’s 127 electoral ridings.
Finding star candidates is very important in setting a tone for the campaign and says a lot about the party and its leader’s credibility in the moment.
