It’s not a stampede by any means, and it comes from a very low ebb, but it’s happening even in Quebec, Canada’s supposedly most secular province. In 2001, the Journal de Montréal reports, all of seven new adherents were baptized in the Quebec City archdiocese over Easter weekend. In 2025 there were 104. There were 225 in the Montreal archdiocese, up from 110 in 2019. Churches are tailoring services to younger parishioners, the Journal reports, and posting sermons on social media where they’re finding a new audience.
