Poilievre serves up bull about beef on Rogan
Joe Rogan’s podcast is not typically known for accuracy. As one of the world’s top podcasts, The Joe Rogan Experience is more of a place for celebrities, influencers and grifters to hawk their hot takes, health hacks and discount codes.
The show’s massive audience has made it influential on topics ranging from politics to pop culture, conspiracies to climate — though often trading rigour for reach. On the topic of climate change, for example, a 2025 analysis by Yale Climate Connections identified Rogan among leading podcasters who spread misinformation.
Rogan’s show has also become a platform for conservative politicians to reach voters, to signal to certain demographics that they are “one of them.” Donald Trump’s pre-election appearance helped him connect with young male voters in 2024, which some commentators believe may have helped him win the presidency.
So it’s no surprise that Pierre Poilievre, leader of both the Conservative Party of Canada and the official Opposition, jumped on the same hopeful bandwagon in March. His strategy: Appeal to the common man — the farmers and the factory workers — who he said know more than the experts and the academics.
