Freed: Rise and shine? I am no fitness guru in the morning
When it comes to mornings, I do not rise and shine.
In fact, I barely breathe.
Ever since I was a kid, I don’t think clearly in the morning.
That’s partly why I have the same boring breakfast every day, because making a decision between pancakes and an omelette would paralyze me.
Let alone actually cooking them before I’ve had breakfast.
Instead, I eat the same thing almost every morning; juice, cereal, fruit, cheese, coffee and toast with almond butter — one slice before my cereal, one after — always in that order.
OK, sometimes I change up my routine by burning the toast.
I always eat breakfast while reading my usual nine newspapers, answering emails, avoiding phone calls or texts and communicating only with our bird, who likes to sing in the morning.
I’m not normally a creature of routine, but for the first 90 minutes of the day, I’m a robot.
Then again, I am one of hundreds of millions of robots because most people have a robotic morning routine, according to studies. They also eat the same breakfast most days of the week.
Apparently, we want a “simple, healthy” start to our day, one we don’t have to think about, while at dinner we prefer some pleasure, choice and even adventure.
What’s your morning........
