Neal: My emotional support AI helped me buy Katseye concert tickets

My daughter is a huge Katseye fan. She knows every lyric to every song, the ages and home countries for each of the now five-member global girl group, and all the choreography to their most popular songs. She quizzes me regularly to make sure I’m keeping up.

When I learned that the group would make its Quebec debut at the Bell Centre this year, I was excited to grab a couple of tickets for what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a 10-year-old and her mother.

I’ve never been to an arena concert. Given Katseye’s massive popularity online (nearly 30 million followers across TikTok and YouTube, and 28 million monthly listeners on Spotify), I assumed tickets would sell quickly.

Last year, Katseye sold out all 13 stops on its first North American tour. Three more dates were added, and they also sold out. I figured I wouldn’t be the only parent of a pre-teen vying for these tickets, so it seemed there was no room for error.

Ticketmaster was my first stop, and where I learned ticket access would be tiered: fan pre-sale........
