I've picked up plenty of middle aisle Aldi buys over the years and some have proved more useful than others.

Every week there seems to be something new appearing on the shelves, with everything from gardening equipment to pots and pans often stalling my shopping spree around the budget supermarket.

On my recent trip there I got sucked into the Special Buys and ended up spending £4.99 on a Crofton Food Chopper.

Arriving home with it, my husband immediately branded it a waste of money - he's used them before and 'they're useless' was his verdict.

Now he's a chef, which means he can chop food about 10 times quicker than yours truly, so I can see why he may stick with a traditional knife.

But for me, this thing has proved a godsend. I'm attempting to eat healthier and with the warmer weather we've been having of late, we've been enjoying a lot more salads.
