The rise and endurance of pandemic era remote working arrangements created increased flexibility that most staffers love, as well as murky areas that employers have had to navigate as best they can. One of those gray zones has arisen from requests by some hybrid employees to be compensated for the time it takes to commute from home on required in-office days—a question that the Department of Labor (DOL) cleared up in a way employers will like.
