Ethan Hawke has said Robert Redford was one of the heroes of his life ― but the final thing the Hollywood legend said to him was anything but heroic.

The Dead Poets Society star reeled off several warm anecdotes about Redford, who died earlier this month at the age of 89, during an interview with US late night host Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday.

“Can I tell you the last words he ever said to me?” Hawke then said, before revealing that Redford told him: “Stop wearing a cowboy hat. People will think you’re losing your hair.”
