Every time a thunderstorm passes through, satellite service is lost. Can the contract with the provider be cancelled?

Q: I recently signed a contract for satellite television service. It seems that every time a thunderstorm passes through, I lose service or the system has to reboot. That causes me to miss much of the programming I'm trying to watch. How can I cancel my contract?

A: You generally cannot cancel satellite television service simply because bad weather is causing temporary signal outages.

If you cancel, you will owe a penalty, and if your satellite service is bundled with other services, then your cost to cancel may be even higher. The cost of those other services may increase as a result of you canceling the........
