Cuba, a Country That Can Barely Sleep
Just as Cuban State Security’s “Villa Marista” disrupts the cycles of detainees, the Island suffers its own sleep deprivation.

HAVANA TIMES – They say that detainees at Villa Marista, the feared headquarters of State Security in Havana, have their circadian rhythms disrupted, that biological rhythm that regulates sleep, wakefulness, body temperature, attention, and even one’s emotional state. Deliberately, jailers turn lights on and off in windowless cells and prolong interrogations to induce disorientation, false confessions, extreme fatigue, and cognitive impairment.
