The recent Budgam incident and several other similar incidents witnessed during the past few years have deeply disturbed society and raised many serious questions. Such incidents were neither part of our culture nor in our blood. Jammu & Kashmir has traditionally been known for its values, spirituality, mutual respect, and social harmony. The increasing involvement of youth in violent and criminal activities reflects a drastic change in mindset, which itself is a matter of serious concern for society, educators, parents, policymakers, and social institutions. Along with social awareness and moral education, there is also a growing need to strengthen scientific investigation systems so that justice is delivered quickly and fairly.Today, people expect quick, transparent, and evidence-based justice. This has become possible because science and technology have revolutionized criminal investigation across the world.

Gone are the days when investigations depended mainly upon assumptions, confessions, or eyewitnesses.
