NC government and the saga of excuses
There was a time when the National Conference had a promise for every problem confronting Jammu and Kashmir. Today, it appears to have an excuse for every promise it has failed to fulfil.
Before the elections, there were assurances of jobs, free electricity, economic relief, better governance and a brighter future. The people were encouraged to believe that an NC government would possess both the determination and the ability to deliver these commitments.After coming to power, however, the language has changed. Promises are increasingly being replaced by explanations, expectations by qualifications and accountability by excuses.
This has become the defining contradiction of the Omar Abdullah government.When questions are raised about employment, there are explanations. When people ask about promised electricity relief, there are explanations. When young aspirants raise concerns about recruitment and reservation, there are explanations.
