In fact, according to the Greenhouse 2026 Candidate AI Interview Report, which surveyed 2,950 active job seekers across the US, UK, Germany, Australia, and Ireland, 63%, nearly two-thirds, have actually been interviewed by AI. This number is up by 13 percentage points in just six months.

Why Candidates Are Walking From These Interviews

So why are so many people walking away? It’s not the technology, especially since many early career candidates utilize AI like second nature. But here’s what it is: it’s the secrecy, because according to the report by Greenhouse, 70% of candidates were never even told up front that AI would evaluate them. And 21% didn’t find out until they entered into the video conference room.
