George Will is a syndicated columnist whose pieces we publish occasionally in the Finger Lakes Times. A political commentator, he writes for The Washington Post and also provides commentary for NewsNation. I can’t say as I always agree with his takes — in fact, I usually don’t — but I respect him because he is well connected, astute, and super intelligent. So intelligent that I usually have a dictionary handy when I am reading his columns so I can look up words I don’t understand. Because there will be words I don’t understand.

But beyond all that — and for the purposes of this “Pub Chat” — he and I have something in common other than journalism: We are passionate baseball fans.

Every year around this time he sends along a column that invariably turns into my favorite one of his for the entire year. It’s not about foreign policy or criticism of President Trump or the latest missteps by Congress. It’s about diamond battles: baseball. And it’s usually in the form of a quiz with difficult, but very interesting, questions.

The latest one came across our wires a few days ago and other than causing me to waste precious time and lose focus on newspaper business........
