The new ceasefire announcement and the way it has been promptly enforced have been regarded as having been a breakthrough in the realm of diplomacy in Pakistan. In an area where passions might escalate fast and mistrust may be an order of the day, it is question-and-answer weighty when any of the various methods can be applied to reduce the temperature. It does not matter that the announcement deviated from Pakistan, however, it is of great importance how promptly it responded to the deviation of its course. Words are better and actions better in diplomacy. This is why it is being addressed as an effective move as opposed to a mere variety of eye-serving.

The only noticeable point is that it did not only seem as though Pakistan was only a bystander of the situation, but it acted in setting the stage that caused the ceasefire. As some of these circles have come to appreciate the country mediation role as a sign of the increasing capacity of the Islamabad to act beyond the small box which it has so often been viewed as operating within. There has been an argument over the years that Pakistan is at the right geographical position, the political experience and the strategic relationships to play a productive role on the international level. This cease-fire has rejuvenated that discussion in a truer sense, in the sense, that it links the diplomacy employed by Pakistan........
