In an era marked by intensifying great power competition and rapid technological change, the global nuclear order is undergoing visible strain. Yet within this shifting landscape, Pakistan’s nuclear posture stands out as a model of responsibility, restraint, and strategic clarity. Far from being a disruptor, Pakistan has consistently positioned itself as a stabilizing force, committed to credible deterrence while advocating for fairness and balance in global nuclear governance.

The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty continues to serve as a central pillar of the international non-proliferation framework. However, its effectiveness depends not only on its principles but also on their equitable implementation. Persistent asymmetries have created a perception of selective application, where some states retain expansive nuclear capabilities while others are expected to exercise restraint under unequal conditions. In such an environment, Pakistan’s approach reflects a pragmatic recognition of ground realities, particularly in a region defined by enduring strategic competition.
